The Promoting Excellence Initative

The Promoting Excellence Initiative (PEI) was established to provide one-off funding to build and/or consolidate the capacity of institutions to engage constructively with the programs of the ALTC. The PEI aims to foster a climate of collaboration and the valuing of diversity and inclusiveness across the sector. The funded strategies are consistent with the objectives and values of the ALTC and support the priorities for teaching and learning of individual institutions. By supporting institutions the ALTC seeks to act as a catalyst for the sustainable, long-term enhancement of learning and teaching and the maximisation of opportunities for effective dissemination and adaption of innovation and good practice.

Forty-two institutions have received funding of $220,000 each, over either two or three years, under the scheme.

Promoting Excellence Initiative Colloquium

A Colloquium, held in Sydney on 22-23 May 2008, enabled representatives from each recipient institution to meet, hear an update on the activities and plans of the ALTC and share their expertise and experiences as implementation of PEI strategies begins in the sector.

The presentation by Dr Elizabeth McDonald, Director - Programs and Networks, at the Colloquium is available (see Downloads at right of this page), as are the 'snapshots' of PEI strategies at Charles Sturt University, University of Southern Queensland and the University of Tasmania. A report on the outcomes of the Colloquium is also available (see Downloads at the right of this page).

A group has been established on the ALTC Exchange for PEI project leaders and managers who attended the Colloquium.
