Project Outcome
This project will lead to the development of an open source, Web-based peer review system for online learning and teaching, which supports academics in the design of their courses, enables them to record their achievements and to use that information in support of their applications for academic promotion and awards.
Project Methodology
- Consultation: Project team will consult within their institutions and via their extensive networks to ensure stakeholders are involved in the evolution of the peer review system;
- Design and development: A Web-enabled peer review tool will be designed and developed using open source software and populated with criteria, links to references and case studies of online learning and teaching;
- Evaluation: Evaluation will be conducted in a formative manner and modifications to the design implemented progressively on the basis of trials of the tool. A summative evaluation will be conducted at the completion of the project;
- Dissemination: A website will be established to facilitate engagement of the higher education community with the development of the tool, and will be used for the distribution of the open source software, guidelines and publications. Outcomes from the project will be published in relevant peer reviewed journals and presented at annual conferences.
