Project Outcome

The project will develop a framework for the involvement of the whole teaching team, including partner organisation staff, in moderation practices in assessment in transnational programs. A key deliverable will be a toolkit for the academic community which will support inclusive practice for quality assurance and quality control in the moderation of assessment in transnational education.

Project Methodology

This project will examine the experiences of lecturers and administrative staff involved in a variety of disciplines and transnational teaching modes to identify issues of assessment moderation practices. A collaborative process will then enable the development of a framework for moderation for fair assessment. The project's research framework will be coordinated by members of an experienced cross-institutional and transnational project team. The main components of the multi-phase research framework will be literature review, quantitative and qualitative surveys of transnational staff, data analysis, construction of framework and toolkit, and the implementation and evaluation of the toolkit. Dissemination of this research, in the form of a dialogic engagement about preliminary data, research methods and findings, the framework and toolkit, will be conducted on an ongoing basis and facilitated through the ALTC Exchange. All phases of the research will be open to review, evaluation and collaborative authoring by stakeholders through an associated wiki site on the web.
