Project Methodology

There will be two studies over two years. The first study will focus on academic coordination of postgraduateprograms, the second study will replicate the first, but with respect to undergraduate course and program coordination. Initially, in both studies, a literature review will be conducted to inform the formulation of questions for the focus groups which will capture the perspective of the key stakeholders in the education process - the academic coordinators? peers, teaching and administrative staff and heads of school. In both studies the leadership skills required of academic coordinators will be made explicit, a tool to measure their effectiveness will be developed, a framework for the professional development of these staff will be formulated, sample resources will be developed and trialled and guidelines for wider application of the framework and the resources will be written and published on a website.
