Project Methodology

Dissemination will occur through a number of means: annual workshops, presentations at seminars and conferences, the establishment and continual updating of a resource website, site visits to Schools of Psychology, and the development of train-the-trainer programs. The project is the next stage of a process which to date has resulted in new courses in cultural competence at the University of South Australia and the beginnings of a national network of interested academics and other stakeholders. The project team will work closely with the Australian Psychological Society which will promote and support this work through its professional bulletins, presentations at its national conferences, and other means. The cultural appropriateness of the curriculum guidelines will be assured through the involvement of a reference group of primarily Indigenous colleagues and the pedagogical quality will be assured through the development of an integrated theoretical framework, continual assessment of courses, and collaboration with colleagues at Victoria University and other institutions.
