Project Outcome
The roles of Unit Coordinators will be defined for influence on and leadership of learning. The competencies for good practice will form detailed job descriptions supported by performance criteria guidelines, benchmarks and recognition and reward strategies for consideration by university management and promotions committees. A database of professional development programs will be compiled and modules developed to address the gaps.
Project Methodology
The project includes two phases:
- A web search of HR and teaching and learning sites at the 38 Australian universities will be conducted to identify job descriptions and specifications for the role of Unit Coordinator; professional development programs in respect of ?leading for learning? competencies and the recognition and reward strategies in place.Where this information is not available, contact will be made with University HR departments and teaching support units to seek access. Focus groups will be organised with Unit Coordinators from a variety of disciplines at the five WA universities to deepen understanding about their roles and the competencies to perform well.
- Data collected will be analysed and evaluated by expert members on the project team and from CADAD. Any gaps identified in the leading for learning professional development will result in the development of new learning resources. A variety of recognition and reward strategies will also be devised.
