Abstract

Fieldwork, a form of work integrated learning, is an integral component of many courses. It provides students with an opportunity to build their graduate employability and consolidate their professional skills and confidence as well as helping them develop positive, professional attitudes and qualities. The aim of this project is to design and implement an academic leadership development program for fieldwork coordinators from a wide variety of disciplines to enhance their leadership capabilities, enabling them to provide high quality fieldwork learning experiences through appropriate pedagogy and management. An expected outcome of the project is to strengthen peer and industry relationships, reduce risks for all parties and ultimately improve the quality of student learning, and preparation and support mechanisms for supervisory staff.
