The basic approach is collaborative, consultative action research using fieldwork and archival methodologies. The project will proceed through a series of coordinated Reflect-Plan-Act-Observe cycles over an 18-month period to build knowledge, and then establish the Network and its website. The process will involve three main stages. First, we collect data via structured email surveys and archival/library research on the current experience of creative writing higher degree students and supervisors, and their notions of best practice. Next, we design the Network’s components to fill identified gaps in the current provision of learning and teaching opportunities. This involves observation, qualitative and quantitative data collection, and formative feedback, and will require several cycles of developing, testing, evaluating and revising our designs with the support of higher degrees students and supervisors in the participating institutions. Finally, we will disseminate and publish the outcomes of our research at conferences, in print and on the website.
