Project Outcome

This project will improve the methodology and supervisory arrangements for High Degree Research students in Law across 22 Australian universities through collaboration, informationsharing and training.

Project Methodology

The project will demonstrate the synergies that can be developed through:

  1. connecting dedicated professional academics in different institutions who have expertise in a student?s postgraduate research (PhD, SJD, LLM (Research) topic;
  2. students having access to experienced supervisors in their specific area of interest across institutions;
  3. providing students with an easy-to-locate list of supervisors, supervision records, and topics;
  4. improving the knowledge of alternative research methodologies amongst legal academics and higher degree research students;
  5. providing methodological support;
  6. encouraging interaction and collaboration between students, between supervisors and others (such as statisticians and methodology experts) across institutions;
  7. professionally marketing Australian postgraduate research degrees (PhD, SJD, LLM (Research)) to international students;
  8. breaking down the isolation often felt by law PhD and SJD students in particular.
