Teachers play an important role in preventing student attrition, an ALTC-funded project has found. The results of data collected from almost 1400 students found that factors such as relationships with teaching staff, subject interactivity, and work-integrated learning all affected the successful progression of students.   The findings are especially relevant following the recent release of last year’s Australasian Study of Student Engagement figures which found that a third of students considered dropping out of their degree. A high-level think tank of students, employers and academics has tackled one of the most significant issues facing the engineering discipline.
