Associate Professor Holger Maier

Synopsis
Holger Maier is an Associate Professor in the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering at the University of Adelaide and was, until recently, the Associate Dean for Learning and Teaching in the Faculty of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences. He has a PhD in Water Resources / Environmental Engineering from the University of Adelaide and has worked as a consultant in the private and public sectors in South Australia, as Senior Civil Engineer with the Samoa Water Authority and as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia. He teaches in water and environmental engineering and is the codeveloper of the multi-award winning Mekong e-Sim. His research interests in engineering education include online roleplay simulations, active learning methods for developing graduate attributes, assessment of openended problems and the embedment of sustainability in engineering degree programs. He has in excess of 100 refereed publications and has received a number of national and international teaching and research awards.
