Professor Maxwell King

Synopsis
Professor Maxwell King is internationally recognised as a distinguished researcher in the field of econometrics and highly regarded as a postgraduate supervisor. He has been a professor at Monash University since 1986, led the Department of Economics and Business Statistics from 1988 to 2000 and in 2003 was appointed a Sir John Monash Distinguished Professor. Professor King is currently Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Research Training). He is a founding member and now convenor of the Australian Council of Deans and Directors of Graduate Schools and chairs the Group of Eight Deans of Graduate Studies. Professor King was made a Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences in 1997 and a Fellow of the Journal of Econometrics in 1989. He has held visiting professorships at the University of Auckland and the University of California, San Diego. Despite a significant administrative workload, Professor King remains an active researcher having published in excess of 100 journal articles. Over the last 20 years he has supervised 41 PhD students to completion with this work recognised in 1996 when he received the Vice-Chancellor’s award for postgraduate supervision.
