Dr Lisa Chopin

Synopsis
Dr Chopin is a senior lecturer in physiology in the School of Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and an active researcher at the Institute for Health and Biomedical Innovation at QUT. Lisa has been involved in university teaching as a practical demonstrator, problem-based learning tutor and a research paper-based learning tutor for 15 years, has supervised research students for a decade and has been a lecturer for the past five years. She has taught in a range of disciplines, including physiology, anatomy and molecular biology, from first, to third year, as well as honours and postgraduate students. As leader of the Ghrelin research group, which she established, she has a growing national and international reputation. Her research focuses on the field of endocrinology and the role of hormones in cancer. In her teaching she uses research-led approaches to integrate teaching and research and has adopted a range of innovative student-centred learning approaches and novel online learning and teaching methods.
