ALTC announces 2010 Citation awards
Outstanding contributions to student learning have been recognised across the nation with the Australian Learning and Teaching Council (ALTC) today announcing awards for 193 citations valued at $1.93 million.
The ALTC’s Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning will be awarded to 170 individuals and 23 teams at six ceremonies that will be held around the country from late July onwards.
Citations, valued at $10,000 each, are awarded to both academic and professional staff, who have demonstrated sustained dedication to improving the quality of the student learning experience. This year citations will be awarded in areas ranging from the first year experience, to advances in online and multimedia teaching and capacity building for marginalised learners.
Dr Carol Nicoll, ALTC Chief Executive Officer, said that the breadth of the achievements demonstrates the significant commitment in the higher education sector to enriching the student experience.
“It is clear from the diversity of this year’s citation winners that staff throughout Australian higher education institutions are dedicated to ensuring their students receive top quality teaching and learning opportunities,” she said.
“Each year the ALTC recognises more and more individuals and teams for their exceptional contribution.”
This year, among the 39 institutions that will receive citations, Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Education was recognised for the first time.
